Spooky season isn't over yet, and this Sunday we're bringing more than 30 local artists, makers and small businesses together at More Brewing Co. in Villa Park for one more afternoon of Halloween fun, handmade goods, great food and craft beer.
The Spooky Fun Artisan Market takes over the side and back lots of More Brewing on Sunday, October 25, from 12 PM to 5 PM. The market is curated by Paula Krizek of the Streetz Artz Alliance and is completely free to attend.
With Halloween just one week away, costumes are absolutely encouraged. Trick-or-treaters are welcome to visit the artists, too. We know Villa Park has other Halloween activities happening around town Sunday, and we want families to know they are welcome to add the Spooky Fun Artisan Market to their day.
At the time of writing this, Mother Nature also appears to be cooperating. We're anticipating a pretty typical fall day with partly cloudy skies and a low chance of rain. If the forecast holds, it should be a great afternoon to hang out outside, grab something to eat or drink and sip and shop your way through the market.
"Shows at MORE Brewing are always a good time," said Paula Krizek. "A great variety of artists and makers, plus all the local pups visit. This time it will be great to see anyone in costume or trick-or-treating the booths."
And there is definitely a lot to explore.

The lineup stretches from Halloween and macabre artwork to woodworking, jewelry, apparel, records, coffee, candles, crocheted creations, hot sauces, cookies, pickles, self-care products, oddities and plenty of things that aren't easy to put into a category.
Art of Alex Kujawa will be bringing original artwork, prints, 3D creations and themed art books, including Alex's book featuring 31 supernatural felines pulled from cat folklore around the world. Alex also designed the branding for this year's Spooky Fun Artisan Market, which Villa Park residents may have already spotted around town on community boards and in storefront windows.
If your tastes run toward tiny hauntings and strange creatures, Gunderstorm Art creates quirky characters in pen, ink and ink wash that live somewhere between whimsical and unsettling. FrankenWerks Studios will have its BooBrigade of small ghosties ready to haunt your home or office, while Primtentions will offer crystals, intention candles, broomstick and skull candles, wire-wrapped jewelry, crystal art and other creations.
Vintage Voodoo Tattoos, Antiques and Oddities brings another local connection to the market. Located right here in Villa Park at 207 S. Villa Ave., they'll be joining us with original art and oddities while representing their local tattoo and oddities shop.
But spooky is only part of this market.
DK Custom Woodwork Co. is a veteran-owned business creating cutting boards, charcuterie boards, cocktail infusers, whiskey cigar flights and other pieces from domestic and exotic hardwoods. Knots and Stitches combines macramé, found and thrifted vessels, vintage fabrics, hand embroidery and seasonal décor to make truly one-of-a-kind pieces.
Caits Creates will have handmade beaded character pens. Design with Millie is bringing one-of-a-kind fall and Halloween décor. The Plush Paw offers whimsically weird crocheted animals, keychains and stress toys. Ghost Owl Studio features original, AI-free artwork screen-printed on shirts and sweatshirts along with pins, stickers and blankets.
Music fans can dig through records from Roczilla Records, including rock, jazz, blues, R&B, alternative and world music. Coffee fans can visit Gigawatt Coffee Roasters for freshly roasted beans, cold brew and samples.

Then there's the food.
KP's Candy Factory is bringing chocolate-covered treats, caramel apples, dried fruit, sweet and savory mixes and more. Masterclass Savory Sweet Foods will have its giant homemade cookies and seasoned nuts, but don't wait too long. They have a habit of selling out at our markets.
You'll also find pickled peppers, onions and Chow Chow from FeFe's Pickles and Peppers, fermented hot sauces from Rockford's Wolf Pack Peppers and small-batch fruit, floral, tea and seasonal syrups from Tastefully Tact.
And because we're at More Brewing, you may want to arrive hungry.
More recently rolled out its Fall/Winter menu, bringing back favorites while introducing plenty of new seasonal choices. The Smoked Maple Brussels Sprouts combine roasted Brussels sprouts with hazelnuts, dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds and smoked maple syrup. According to Paula, those Brussels sprouts are "to die for," so apparently you've been warned.
The seasonal menu also includes the award-winning Tonkatsu Curry Bowl, Harvest Chicken Caesar Salad, Smoked Maple BLT, Green Grilled Cheese and the Good Burger.
If you're looking for serious fall comfort food, check out the Short Rib Grilled Cheese with braised short rib, Muenster, Gouda, pepper jack, fontina, Gruyère, grilled onions and cherry pepper relish on sourdough.
And save room for dessert. More's fall selections include Smoked Maple Sweet Potato Cheesecake and Tiramisu.
Shopping small at this market can also mean supporting something much bigger.
Several participating artists use their businesses and events to help support charitable organizations and causes.

Special K's BeerCandles, which will have its signature candles made in vintage beer cans along with traditional candles and wax melts, supports Dark Horse Dogs, NFP.
Jeannine's Jems supports Delta Gamma, while Jen Watson Art supports the League of Enchantment Chicago. Jen's booth will feature original artwork alongside colorful pouches, dice bags, lanyards, prints, buttons, stickers and other creations inspired by everything from pop culture and superheroes to tarot and liminal spaces.
Masterclass Savory Sweet Foods supports St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, while Dye The Day Away, known for its colorful tie-dye shirts, hoodies, dresses, socks and other apparel, supports The Trevor Project.
DK Custom Woodwork supports H2O Heart Haven Outreach and other causes through its business.
It's one of the things we love about working with independent artists and small businesses. When you spend money with them, you aren't feeding some giant corporate machine. You're supporting someone's art, someone's idea, someone's family and, sometimes, a cause they deeply care about.
The full anticipated lineup for Sunday includes Accents by Rosey, Alley Art, Art of Alex Kujawa, Avijo Design, Bryan Gregory Forsyth Art, Caits Creates, Cats Crafts & Cooking, Crafty Creations, Design with Millie, DK Custom Woodwork, Dye The Day Away, FeFe's Pickles and Peppers, FrankenWerks Studios, Ghost Owl Studio, Gigawatt Coffee Roasters, Gunderstorm Art, Jeannine's Jems, Jen Watson Art, Knots and Stitches, KP's Candy Factory, Masterclass Savory Sweet Foods, megandowntherabbithole, Melanie Klegerman Fersko - Artist and Author, Primtentions, Roczilla Records, Scary Terri's Crafts, Self Made Body & Soul, Snowingstars, Special K's BeerCandles, Tastefully Tact, The Crooked Workbench, The Plush Paw, Vintage Voodoo Tattoos, Antiques and Oddities and Wolf Pack Peppers.
That's a whole lot of local talent packed into one spooky-good afternoon.
Michael Kowalczyk of Special K's BeerCandles may have summed up Sunday's plan best: "Enjoy the fall weather and shop all the fall candles."
We agree.

Grab some friends. Bring the family. Wear the costumes. Bring the trick-or-treaters. Come hungry. Grab a craft beer or seasonal brew, check out More's new fall menu and spend some time wandering through more than 30 independent artists and small businesses.
The Spooky Fun Artisan Market takes place Sunday, October 25, from 12 PM to 5 PM at More Brewing Co., 126 S. Villa Ave. in Villa Park.
Admission and parking are free, the event is family-friendly, and the market will be located outdoors in the side and back lots.
Come shop local. Eat local. Drink local. Support local.
And enjoy one more spooky Sunday before Halloween arrives.
