This Saturday, spring shopping, craft beer, local art, and tacos collide as the Pushing Up Daisies Spring Artisan Market takes over Black Horizon Brewing Company in partnership with the Streetz Artz Alliance.

Running from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, the family-friendly market is free to attend and will feature seventeen local artists, makers, and small businesses alongside award-winning craft beer, delicious food, and plenty of parking both onsite and across the street for patrons to enjoy.

Guests can browse a carefully curated lineup featuring handmade goods, original artwork, jewelry, woodworking, baked treats, plants, pet accessories, candles, photography, vinyl records, gaming items, and much more while enjoying the laid-back brewery atmosphere Black Horizon has become known for throughout the southwest suburbs.

Adding to the experience, Tacos Las Manitas will be serving up crispy and traditional tacos with house-made salsas from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., giving visitors the perfect excuse to settle in for an afternoon of shopping and craft beer.

And beer fans will have even more reason to stop by thanks to recent releases from Black Horizon Brewing, including “Surf King,” a crisp West Coast-style IPA brewed with Centennial, Simcoe, and Citra hops delivering tropical citrus, candied pine, and classic old-school bitterness.

A Carefully Curated Mix of Returning Favorites and New Talent

According to organizers, one of the biggest goals of every Streetz Artz Alliance event is making sure each market feels fresh, exciting, and different from the last.

“We say carefully curated because it is,” explained John Streetz of the Streetz Artz Alliance. “Paula, Alissa and myself spend a lot of time reviewing applications, photos, websites, and social media to provide the best of the best for patrons to enjoy and shop from. This event may be smaller in size, but it’s absolutely packed with incredible artists.”

Several beloved Streetz Artz Alliance favorites will return to Black Horizon this weekend, including:

  • Belonio Doodles with original artwork, comics, stickers, cards, and custom illustrations

  • DK Custom Woodwork Co. showcasing handcrafted hardwood cutting boards, charcuterie boards, cocktail infusers, and whiskey cigar flights

  • Gigawatt Coffee Roasters serving up freshly roasted coffee

  • Masterclass Savory Sweet Foods bringing giant cookies and savory snack creations

  • Wolf Den Gaming with beautifully painted dice towers, gaming accessories, and 3D printed creations

Community Beyond Commerce

Beyond shopping and beer, organizers say events like this help strengthen local communities by directly supporting small businesses, independent artists, and charitable causes.

One featured vendor, Masterclass Savory Sweet Foods, has spent years supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital through proceeds generated at artisan markets throughout the year.

Owner Brenda Moore collects donations throughout her vending season before making annual contributions to the hospital.

“It’s a beautiful hospital and it’s because of the children,” explained Moore. “This is something I’m proud to contribute to and I do what I can to help the children.”

Stories like these continue to highlight how artisan markets do far more than create shopping opportunities — they also help build stronger community connections across the region.
