Horror-Themed Artisan Market Haunts Phase Three Brewing this Sunday.

From Creepy Crafts to Killer Brews: A Horror Market Invades Lake Zurich

Fans of fright-night movies and spooky fun won’t want to miss this weekend’s “Fright Market at Camp Lake Zurich,” a horror-inspired artisan market taking over Phase Three Brewing in Lake Zurich on Sunday, August 24. More than four dozen artists and makers will fill the brewery’s barrel room and back area with their creepiest, scariest, and scarily good creations—everything from devilish sweets to macabre art, wet specimens, creepy décor, and eerie scents.

The event runs from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Phase Three Brewing, 932 Donata Ct., Lake Zurich, IL. It is free to attend, family-friendly, and all indoors, so it will go on rain or shine. Guests can enjoy food from the new Phase Three Kitchen, as well as a wide selection of craft beer, seltzers, and non-alcoholic options while browsing the market. Ample parking is available onsite, with additional street parking nearby.

The market is curated and hosted by John Streetz and Brianne Adelman of the Streetz Artz Alliance, known for bringing unique themed markets to Phase Three throughout the year. “We asked our artists to bring their creepiest, scariest handmade items to this event, and judging from the preview photos on our Facebook page, I couldn’t be prouder of this line-up,” said Streetz.

In a nod to classic slasher films like Friday the 13th, the event name “Fright Market at Camp Lake Zurich” pays homage to the horror genre’s iconic summer camp setting. Fittingly, 19 of the participating artists are brand-new to the venue, making their debut with frighteningly fitting creations.

Highlights include:

  • Secondhand Nightmares, an eclectic purveyor of creepy art and décor made from thrifted, donated, and abandoned objects, offering everything from original artworks to haunting assemblage pieces.

  • KP’s Candy Factory, whose spooky treats include chocolate-covered Oreos with bloody eyeballs and skull-themed Rice Krispy treats, all packaged to look as good as they taste.

  • Dead Girl Decor, jewelry and dark décor with Halloween flair year-round, from coffin earrings to horror bookmarks. Owner Erin Kinzer also co-runs the popular “Bizarre Bazaar” market in Valparaiso, IN.

  • Memento Moira, an oddities artist inspired by funeralia, quack medicines, and abandoned relics, transforming found objects into macabre treasures.

  • Cupboard Creature Creations, eerie handmade art dolls and collectibles crafted from vintage doll parts, trinkets, and textiles.

Returning favorites from the Streetz Artz Alliance roster will also be there, including Self Made Body & Soul (bath and body products), Wanna Pickle Gourmet Foods (giant jar pickles), Ten Cups Tarot (tarot readings), Belonio Doodles (whimsical spooky prints), and DK Custom Woodworking (handmade cutting boards).

Beyond the spooky shopping, several artists are using the event to give back by supporting causes close to their hearts. Charities benefiting from participating vendors include national organizations such as Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as well as community-focused groups like Woodstock Pride, Restoration Ministries, Heart Haven H2O, and Fire Buddies. Other supported nonprofits include Chicago Land Animal Rescu and the Hello Happiness Creativity Center in Sheboygan, showing how the artists extend their creativity and generosity far beyond the market.
